Bangkok, the vibrant capital of Thailand, is a city steeped in history and culture. Officially known as “Krung Thep Maha Nakhon,” meaning “City of Angels,” Bangkok was founded in 1782 by King Rama I, the first monarch of the current Chakri Dynasty. Originally a small trading post during the Ayutthaya Kingdom, it rapidly grew into a major city when it became the capital.
